“To err is human, to innovate, divine.”

It is beyond cliché to say that our political process is divided and dysfunctional. So instead of dissecting the latest study on polarization, I am going to explain how we can utilize the most powerful problem-solving tool in human history to fundamentally revolutionize our political process, as well as the movement that will bring about this transformation.

Innovation has transformed every aspect of our daily lives and every facet of the modern world. In fact, in every field to which innovation has been applied, we have witnessed exponential success. Science, technology, medicine, industry, and agriculture have all transitioned from medieval darkness to the illumination of modernity through the mindset and methodology of innovative problem-solving.

Innovation is so powerful because it consistently generates solutions even in environments in which people have very different ways of looking at the world. For the past 2,400 years, we have had the same exact political argument over and over. Since it has not been resolved by now, it clearly never will be. Therefore, by forcing our political process to focus on solutions instead of pointless squabbles, we realize that error is the enemy, not each other. In so doing, we further appreciate that innovation is both a mentality and a methodology of solving problems, and that understanding both is crucial to our future success. Innovation in politics will propel the United States to end the partisan tribalism and our reliance on the tired, old, failed ideas of the past.

Innovation may sound like a complicated concept, but it is very simply an approach for systematically finding better ways to do things and differentiating between what works and what does not. By starting with facts and evidence, objectively weighing all options, experimenting, and testing the results, we can transform the counterproductive perpetual pugilism that our political process has become.

As many of our Founding Fathers understood, the United States is a “Great Experiment.” They infused this understanding into the DNA of our great republic. Further, America’s innovative spirit is at the heart of our way of life and our unparalleled exceptionalism. Applying innovative problem-solving to our political process is merely a continuation of the inspiration and methodology our Founding Fathers began.

The American Innovation Party (AIP) is both a movement and a political party dedicated to fundamentally reforming our political culture and providing America with a new national narrative. As Einstein observed, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” We desperately need to think about old problems in new ways.

Non-monopolistic parties have failed in the past because they have not provided any tangible ideas for improving the way that we govern ourselves. We stand above and beyond these failed approaches. Since the power of innovation is clearly understood by nearly all Americans, our approach is both immediately recognized as an improvement and has consistently yielded real results.

Conservatism and liberalism are not bad in and of themselves; they are simply outdated modes of thinking. The AIP is producing new ideas and new solutions based on what works and what does not in the real world, not in the world of endless partisan tribalism and ideological dispute. You cannot teach an old dogma new tricks, just as you cannot solve enduring problems with tired, old, failed ideas of the past.

By embracing innovative problem-solving and the AIP, America can truly become a shining city on a hill and provide illumination for the rest of the world to follow.
